Want to find out more about getting your home assessed?

Starting April 5, 2025 (first Saturday), our Wildfire Safety Ambassadors will be at Station 2 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon. They will provide information to the public on the value of home assessments. They will then be at Station 1 on April 12th, 2025, from 10:00 am to noon.  The opportunity to speak to an Ambassador will continue at Station 2 on April 19th then Station 1 on April 26. For more information on this program, please get in touch with Greg Venette at greg.venette@poudrecanyonfiredistrict.org. You can also learn more about the program on our website: poudrecanyonfiredistrict.org. Here's the link: Home Assessments

May is Wildfire Awareness Month. To be aware, you might want to become Wildfire Ready.

Need help with your computer or smartphone?

We have some fraternity members who would like to come up and assist you in solving issues you may be having with your technology. For example, did the last update on your computer now mean your email is no longer working? or the new dash camera you purchased fail to communicate with your smartphone? or, heaven forbid, your passwords no longer seem to work? If you would like help from the younger generation who grew up with a smartphone as a toy, please complete the following form and explain what you would like help with:

We will get back to you as we discover what the community needs.

Reminder, we now have a mitigation tool library where you can check out tools for mitigation

With Spring here, people may be wondering about checking out some of the tools from the wildfire mitigation tool lending library at Station 2. While we anticipate that the tools will be charged up and ready to lend out by mid-to-late April, we wanted to let you know what the tools will be available so you can start planning ahead. Below is a list of Husqvarna-branded battery-operated tools unless otherwise noted.

  • Pole saw
  • String trimmer
  • Brush cutter
  • 14” chainsaw
  • Stihl 4” cordless pruner
  • DR Electric 6-ton corded log splitter
  • Outdoor extension cord
  • Stihl log stand
  • Stihl Peavy 60”
  • Champion 25-ton gas-powered log splitter
  • PPE including chaps and safety helmets with visors and ear protection

Contact Sean McWilliams with any questions or to reserve a tool at messerschmied@comcast.net.

Upper Canyon residents obtained the funding for the Upper Canyon tool-lending library. We would willing to apply for grants to set up a mitigation tool library in the Lower Canyon. To do so, we need a place to build a shed to store the equipment, and we need someone to provide the leadership to get the shed built, and to maintain and check out the equipment. If you want to help make this tool library available to Lower Canyon residents, contact Bette Blinde at b.blinde@poudrecanyonfiredistrict.org.
